Slemani International Film Festival Opens Submissions for Its Sixth Edition

The Slemani International Film Festival has opened submissions for its sixth edition, inviting filmmakers from Kurdistan, Iraq, and around the world to submit new works for its 2026 edition.
According to the festival’s regulations, the subject of submitted films is open. All national and international films must include English subtitles, and only films produced from 2025 onward are eligible.
The 2026 call includes several competitive sections: International Feature Film, National Feature Film, International Documentary Film, National Documentary Film, International Short Film, National Short Film, and Youth National Short Film.
Awards will be presented in different categories, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best DOP, Best Leading Actor, Best Leading Actress, and Jury Award in selected feature sections.
Based in Slemani, the festival has become a notable regional platform for Kurdish, Iraqi, and international cinema. Its open call offers filmmakers a space to present recent work in a city where cinema, storytelling, and cultural exchange continue to grow.
